Over 2,000 Afghan migrants deported from Iran and Pakistan

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations reported on Tuesday, July 2nd, that over 2,000 Afghan migrants have been deported from Iran and Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan.

According to a press release from the ministry, a total of 2,450 Afghan migrants entered the country through various border points after being expelled.

The ministry specified that those deported entered through the borders of Nimroz province’s Islam Qala, Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, and Torkham in Nangarhar province.

Despite international outcry, the deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan continues amid ongoing challenges.

The forced deportation has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, straining resources and posing significant challenges for returning migrants.

Many of the deported Afghans face uncertainty and lack essential services upon their return, adding to the humanitarian burden in the country.

Human rights organizations have raised concerns about the conditions faced by Afghan returnees and called for international support to address the humanitarian needs.
