UN-Secretary-General meets and talks with Uzbekistan’s president

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres says he met with Uzbekistan’s President Mirziyoyev to discuss regional cooperation and stability.

On Tuesday, July 2, he announced via a post on his social media platform X that he had arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, during his trip to Central Asia.

Secretary-General Guterres commenced his 9-day trip on Saturday, June 29 June, to visit climate change projects in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

He emphasized that he would travel to Kyrgyzstan after Tashkent.

Additionally, the UN Secretary-General stated he would participate and deliver remarks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, scheduled for July 4 in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.

Secretary-General Guterres’s diplomatic engagements in Central Asia underscore the UN’s commitment to regional stability and climate action.
