Tottenham officially confirm the sale of 26-year-old – Reported fee of £10m
Tottenham Hotspur have today confirmed the latest departure from Ange Postecoglou’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Tottenham confirm Joe Rodon has left the club
The North Londoners have revealed they have reached an agreement with Leeds United for the exit of Joe Rodon on a permanent transfer.
Rodon spent last season at Elland Road, where he made 50 appearances in all competitions at centre-back where they narrowly missed out on securing a return to the Premier League having lost in the play-off final to Southampton.
It is said that the fee to take the Welshman back to the Whites is in the region of £10 million and separate from the Archie Gray deal (Leeds Live).
Alasdair Gold reported on Monday that Tottenham had rejected a £10 million offer from Ipswich Town with Rodon’s preference to have gone back to Daniel Farke’s side.
Joe Rodon seals return to Leeds United on a permanent transfer
Rodon joined Tottenham from Swansea City in October 2020 for an initial £11 million rising to £15 million (Sky Sports).
The 26-year-old found regular first-team football hard to come by following his move to Spurs where he made just 24 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).
In an interview with the Mail before their play-off final defeat Rodon said: “It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season. I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully, I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know.
“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now. I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs.”

This is a good piece of business for all parties involved. Rodon gets to continue the rebuilding of his career at a club where he enjoyed a successful campaign by his own personal standards last season.
Rodon was clearly deemed as surplus to requirements soon after Ange Postecoglou arrived as Tottenham head coach and it is great to see that some of the players who have with all respect been ‘deadwood’ are being moved on.
The Welshman follows the likes of Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon in sealing their exit from Tottenham in recent times.
Postecoglou has transformed the backline with Cristian Romero having had his best season in a Spurs shirt while the arrivals of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin have been very shrewd signings.
