Major car brand issuing refunds to customers over software issues – could you be due your money back?
A MAJOR car brand has begun issuing refunds to customers after one of its cars suffered software issues.
One driver said that the operating system on the EV, which is built in China under a European marque, was “all over the place”.
Several owners of the Volvo EX30 electric SUV have taken to social media to share their frustration with the onboard systems.
Mark Nichol, motoring expert for AutoTrader, tweeted: “The stereo didn’t work for a day. Then it did.
“The car charged fine. Then it didn’t.
“Such a shame because it’s basically a lovely car.”
And others shared similar experiences in the comments, with one writing: “Sounds very much like our Volvo.
“Its operating system and electrics are all over the place.”

Volvo has now started the process of refunding customers who have had to bring their cars in thanks to the issues, according to Autocar.
A spokesperson told the outlet: “We recognise that this is not what they expect from their Volvo car, and we are working to remedy this as swiftly as possible with the minimum of inconvenience to our customers.
“In a very small number of cases in the UK, customers have chosen to exercise their consumer rights to return their cars.
“Volvo Cars strives and continues to support its customers throughout the ownership journey, and overall we continue to be encouraged by the positive feedback we are receiving from owners.
“The EX30 continues to be sold in the UK, and with more than 4,500 already delivered to customers this year, it is proving popular, backed by a strong order book.”
However, the firm insists that the cars currently on the road remain safe and are still on sale, with the model only taken off its online configurator briefly as there is a 2025 version launching on July 8.
It comes after a homeowner shared their fury after their neighbour left an abandoned car “melting into the ground” outside their property.
