Trump hush money sentencing delayed after Supreme Court ruling: report

Manhattan prosecutors Tuesday acquiesced to Donald Trump’s request to postpone criminal sentencing in his criminal hush money trial, according to a new report.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg's legal team agreed Judge Juan Merchan should have more time to weigh the implications of the recent Supreme Court ruling and if it imperils his conviction in the historic hush money trial, the New York Times reports.

"It is up to the judge to determine whether to postpone the sentencing, though with both sides in agreement, it seems likely he would do so," the Times noted.

Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to his conceal hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

He was initially scheduled to be sentenced on July 11.

The Supreme Court ruling has thrown into question the future of the other three criminal court cases the former president faces on charges that he tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election and violated the Espionage Act by storing classified documents in his social club Mar-a-Lago.
