Lauren Boebert slams Republican lawmakers over Steve Bannon's imprisonment

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) lashed out at her Republican colleagues after former White House strategist Steve Bannon began his four-month sentence in a Connecticut prison.

Boebert's complaint came a day after Bannon surrendered to a prison in Danbury following his failed appeals for contempt of Congress convictions.

"I sure wish my GOP colleagues cared as much about Steve Bannon's freedom as the Dems do about his imprisonment," Boebert wrote on X Tuesday.

Bannon's supporters had called on Republicans in Congress to rescind his subpoena from the Jan. 6 Committee. He was found in contempt because he ignored it.

Last month, House Republican leadership secretly voted to support Bannon. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) promised to file a legal brief, which he said would help.

Bannon has previously called Johnson "disgusting."
