Big 12 releases preseason media poll, K-State and KU both top four

LAS VEGAS (KSNT) - With Big 12 media days just around the corner, the conference released its preseason media poll on Tuesday.

K-State checks in at No. 2, receiving 19 first place votes and just narrowly missing the top ranking. Utah received 20 first place votes and is the preseason pick to win the league. It's the second-straight year which K-State has been picked second in the media's preseason selections.

KU is picked to finish fourth and received five first place votes. The ranking for the Jayhawks is their highest since the Big 12 went to a non-divisional format in 2011. KU was picked to finish ninth in 2023.

Here's the full list, with the number of total 'points' from votes listed, following by the number of first place votes in parentheses.

The conference will hold its annual media days event in Las Vegas for the first time this year. K-State's Chris Klieman and select players will be among those speaking on Tuesday, July 9 while KU's Lance Leipold and selected players will talk on Wednesday, July 10.
