Head of LGBTQ Democratic Group Caught by ‘Predator Poachers’

On Sunday, a video was released showing Michael Knaapen, chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party LGBTQ Diversity Leadership Council and LGBTQ activist, being confronted for pedophilia. The confrontation was conducted by Predator Poachers, an organization founded by Alex Rosen that conducts “intervention-style sting operations to catch child predators.”

Knaapen caught the attention of Predator Poachers in the fall of 2023 when he began conversing with “Luke,” a fake 14-year-old boy created by the group to catch pedophiles.

The group attempted to turn Knaapen into the special victims unit in Montgomery County, Maryland, where Knaapen lives but never heard anything back from the detective they were working with.

Last week, armed with graphic messages expressing Knaapen’s desire to rape “Luke,” Predator Poachers took matters into their own hands and confronted Knaapen outside a restaurant where he was having dinner with his husband.

The confrontation lasted for nearly an hour. During that time, Knaapen also admitted to giving his number to three or four other children.

He attempted to explain his actions by saying “I liked the thrill of it. It felt exciting, it felt dangerous, it felt taboo. I felt sexy.”

The full extent of Knaapen’s crimes is unknown.

He was the religious education assistant and the youth ministry coordinator at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring from 2016 to 2020 and is the director of Public Policy and Alliance Development for the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Inc. 

The LGBTQ activist also visited the White House three times last year and was slated to go to the mayor’s house the day after being confronted by Predator Poachers.

Alex Rosen and Predator Poachers did not respond to The American Spectator’s request for comment.
