REI's 4th of July sale is coming to a close on Thursday, which means now is the last call for steep savings on summer camping gear, Yeti coolers, and hiking boots. It's also the last call for the retailer's tremendously popular discounts on e-bikes, which have been a cornerstone of the sale. Though marked-down models from Cannondale and Benno have been turning heads, it's Co-op Cycles' e-bikes that have been getting the most attention, including one top-seller that's over $250 off.

Co-op Cycles CTY e1.1 E-Bike is on sale right now at REI for $1,039—a 20% discount on the normal $1,299 price. This top-rated e-bike is the most popular on the site, having earned over 40 five-star ratings from shoppers who say it's an "excellent value for the money." While it only comes in black, it is available in three sizes—small, medium, and large—and is a great fit for riders between 5 feet tall and 6-foot-3.

Get It

The CTY e1.1 E-Bike is a 7-speed Class 1 city bike that's speedy, lighter weight than many, and easy to ride. It weighs only 48 pounds and has a range of up to 40 miles with its pedal assist mode that gets it going up to 20 mph. The bike features a locking and removable battery, so it doesn't have to risk baking in the summer sun as well as front and rear lights for added safety. Co-op Cycles chose flat-resistant Schwalbe Big Ben tires for this model, which are great for standing up to questionable city streets, alleyways, and even gravel.

There's a lot of tech crammed into this bike, but what people seem to appreciate most about it is that it's simply fun to ride. "I've had my e-bike for a few weeks now and I really love it," one shopper said. "I like that the bike is light and easy to get around on. I only use the assist when I really need help. It's letting me get out and explore all the hilly trails around me while I build up my strength. Plus, it's super fun to ride."

Others have been wowed by this bike's versatility and range. "For my needs of getting around town, it will absolutely hold up, and it gives me the option to go to the next town over and back on a single charge," a shopper said. "It was great for both higher-speed riding and slow, relaxing riding through parks, and on groomed trails. It will absolutely haul a week's-worth of groceries (for one person) with ease. It cut about five minutes off my average commute to work."

With prices on e-bikes expected to skyrocket in the next 12 to 18 months, it's a good idea to get one now, and few places have as many value-packed deals as REI does on bikes like Co-op Cycles' CTY e1.1. If you're thinking about getting one, make sure to do it soon, because the savings go away on July 4.
