J.D. Martinez Scratched With Ankle Injury
The Mets scratched DH J.D. Martinez from Tuesday’s lineup due to a sore left ankle. Further details on the injury were not immediately available. Luis Torrens was at designated hitter and batting sixth in his absence for Tuesday’s game with the Washington Nationals. Mark Vientos, playing third, moved up to third in the lineup.
Martinez, whose go-ahead three-run homer in the 10th inning helped New York to a 9-7 victory on Monday, is slashing .278/.360/.493 with 10 home runs.
This is the first game Martinez has missed since May 19, a scheduled rest day. We’ll update with more information as it comes in.
