Britney Spears is ‘frustrated’ by her ‘genetic’ cellulite, but it’s ‘going to get worse’ without treatment, says expert

BRITNEY Spears’ cellulite denial and reaction to photos showing dimples on her thighs were misplaced, according to a New York plastic surgeon.

The cellulite expert explained that the pesky fat deposits are “normal” but urged the pop icon to seek treatment if they bother her because the irregularities in her skin will “become more apparent.”

Britney, 42, was photographed in June walking at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.

The pop star disembarked a flight from Mexico wearing a tight pink mini-dress that showed off her legs.

The skin on the Gimme More singer’s thighs in the sunshine looked dimpled.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Levine, who has not treated Britney, said the star “always had cellulite.”

“From looking at the new photographs, Britney has a problem with cellulite like all women have,” Levine told The U.S. Sun.

“The sunlight was coming from above at Van Nuys, making the cellulite more visible.

“Britney has worked hard to get on track and was photographed at an unflattering angle.

“But Britney appears to have always had some cellulite on the front part of her anterior thigh.

“This is probably genetic, and the cellulite will worsen as she ages because of skin laxity.

“These irregularities in the tissue are going to become more apparent.”

According to Levine, Britney looked at ease dressed in a thigh-skimming bodycon dress.

The Baby One More Time hitmaker was braless and wore comfortable Birkenstocks.

“Britney seemed quite confident with her body and wearing her tight pink dress,” she said.

“We can clearly see her muscle definition and tone in her legs.

Britney does have confidence, but she cycles about how she feels about her body.

“Britney has been working out and trying to improve, so I can understand her frustration with this cellulite.”

The Toxic hitmaker responded to the photos via an Instagram post.

She posted a clip wearing the same mini dress. Britney denied having cellulite on her legs.

“The night before the paps got THAT SHOT of me going to my car !!! Same dress and same girl !!! Look I get it I know my body is not perfect but I also know I don’t have cellulite on my legs the way the paps betray me !!!” her text over the clip read.

SKIN CYCLE

Levine suggested the pop star could have responded differently.

“Britney was defending herself,” she said.

“But instead of denying the cellulite on her legs, Britney could have said, ‘I love my body, and so what if I have some cellulite?’

“Britney does have confidence, but she cycles with how she feels about her body.

“Sometimes she feels good about her body.

“We all go through times when we feel great and other times not.”

Cellulite is the term for deposits of fat forming under the skin.

It appears lumpy or dimpled, usually on the thighs, hips, butt, and belly.

NORMAL PEOPLE

Levine unpacked how cellulite impacts most women.

“Cellulite is mainly only a problem for women because of anatomy and hormones like estrogen,” she said.

“Anatomically, women also have thinner skin.

“Bands connect the skin to the lower connective tissue, and those tend to be more vertical in women.

“In men, they are cross-linked, so they do not cause puckering as much and have thicker skin.

Britney has appeared to try to improve it over time, but it is not always so easy.

“Over 90% of women have cellulite, so it is something that we should normalize.”

Britney appears to have kicked off her treatment journey in 2007.

She reportedly turned to liposuction at the Advanced Lipo Dissolve Center after having kids, Jayden James and Sean Preston.

Britney shared an Instagram post about wrapping her body in tin foil during the Pandemic to tone her skin.

Britney tried treatments called Emsculpt and Forma, which she documented on Facebook in 2021.

ROOM TO IMPROVE

Levine suggested Britney combine treatments and commit to long-term cellulite management.

“If you look at the earlier pictures of Britney’s cellulite, she had it on her anterior thigh as well,” she said.

“Britney has appeared to try to improve it over time, but it is not always so easy.

“One of her early cellulite treatments has been mesotherapy.

For Britney, it would need to be a full-time commitment.

“This is an injection of a cocktail of multiple ingredients that we never know what they are.

“If people want to treat cellulite, they are going to need multiple treatments and different kinds of them.

“You also need to treat all the surfaces to make everything smoother.

“This means, for Britney, it would need to be a full-time commitment.

“She would probably need to treat more of her leg than she has been in the past.”

Britney’s health and fitness journey has also seen her try different ways to tone up.

“I run a lot, I swim a lot, and I dance a lot, too,” the mom of two told E! News in 2016.

She added, “Tacos, pizza, and ice cream. I love sweets. I love Oreo Blasts — they’re the best!”

Britney shared how she ate plenty of fruits and vegetables in 2019.

Britney should understand that most women have cellulite like she does.

“I have weak eyes and stress and asthma and headaches. So this chart has helped me so much with those problems …. and my weight!!!” she wrote on Instagram.

In 2021, Britney attempted portion control, and in 2023, after her divorce, she claimed her weight “pretty much stays the same.”

“I’m usually 135 on scale…that’s my normal weight!!!” she wrote on Instagram.

In April, Britney shared an image on Instagram of a book about intermittent fasting.

IN THE GENES

Levine suggested eating fast food and not exercising would be at play.

“The other thing that plays a role with cellulite is the diet,” explained Levine.

“This is about yo-yo dieting and anything that will affect the skin.

“Sun and a poor diet will make the cellulite look worse.

“But even if you eat right and exercise, you might still have cellulite.

“Some of it is genetic and hormonal.

“This means there are limits to what we can do about it and what we can control.”

Dr. Jennifer Levine's top tips to treat cellulite.

1. Use a combination of treatments such as Emscuplt Neo, Aveli and Hyper-Dilute Radiesse to fill the dimples.

2. Find treatments to stimulate collagen and elastin and improve skin quality.

3. Use creams with caffeine, as these can temporarily make cellulite look better.

4. Self-tanner can also help create a smoother look across the skin.

5. Create a long-term treatment plan with a specialist and commit to it.

“At the end of the day, cellulite is completely normal, and we all probably have it somewhere,” Levine added.

“If you want to look better, treatments can help.

“People must not feel bad about their appearance.

“Britney should understand this as well and that most women have cellulite like she does.

“The issue is getting the right treatment for celebrities like her.

“Celebrities are often led by other people and may not always make their own informed choices.”
