‘Where are my 90’s kids at?’ shoppers sent into a frenzy by Claire’s hair accessory that ‘unlocks childhood memories’

IT’S the accessory most fashionistas sported in the 90s – and now the viral zig zag hairband has landed back in stores.

From low-rise denim to tiered Boho skirts, disc belts and velour tracksuits, the 90s have slowly been making a comeback on the high street and in our wardrobes.

But it’s not just the iconic clothing that’s returned like a ghost from decades ago – once-popular accessories, too, are becoming increasingly trendy in the world of fashion of 2024.

And if you were around in the 90s and early 2000s, you will definitely remember the pain and the never-ending scratches from wearing the viral zig zag hairband.

Whether you’ve recovered from the trauma or not, the accessory was recently spotted at Claire’s – and fashionistas have been sent into a frenzy.

The Accordion Headband, which you can bag in Black and Tortoiseshell print, is currently on sale for £2.25 and comes in a pack of two – which is handy in case they snap like back in the day.

The stylish bargain was discovered by one trendy mum, Nikki, who took to TikTok to share the news.

”Am I the only one who didn’t know that Claire’s sell these?” the dark-haired beauty wondered in the clip.

Attempting to style her gorgeous locks with the accessory, Nikki – who posts under the username @nikkissecretxx – first put it around her neck, before pulling the hairband above her head.

”This is gonna be amazing – even just to wear it around the house.

”I remember these from back in the day,” the fabulous mum said, noting that you could complete the look with a choker.

”I love this headband from @Claire’s but they pretty much sell them everywhere now,” Nikki went on in the caption.

”The hard headbands hurt behind my ears.”

But it’s not just Nikki raving over the stylish bargain find that’s giving us a major throwback – fellow social media users were rejoicing over the news.

Hundreds flocked to comments, as many revealed they were left pretty emotional by the iconic – and historical – trend.

”OMG!!! I haven’t seen these in years! You just brought back memories,” one cried out.

All the 90s trends that are making a comeback

WE might be in 2024, but fashion fans are looking to the past when it comes to new styles. So what trends from the 90s are making a comeback these days?

Claw clips

These hair accessories were a huge trend back in the 90s, but are now most popular among those trying out the “clean girl” aesthetic. Designers such as Prada have released their own versions, while there are thousands of colours and styles to choose from on the high street.

Platform flip flops

Again a popular choice among fashionistas in the 90s, these heels have made a comeback with designers such as Balenciaga trying their luck with their own styles.

Cargo pants

Once worn by the stars of All Saints, cargo pants became a popular trend for teens in the 90s. But they’ve now had a fashion overhaul, with stars such as Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber all putting their own spin on the trend.

Jeans and a nice top

It was the phrase that defined fashion for a decade, and now famous faces such as Sofia Richie are sporting the reinvented trend – pairing their own denims with a more sophisticated top. But are you willing to dig your jeans and nice tops out of the wardrobe for a second time?

Another joked: ”OMG loved them but boy when they stab they STABBBB.”

”2000 baby here and I used to wear these all the time, even had different colours,” a third chimed in.

”I love these but they never stay in my hair so gutted,” a style enthusiast remarked.

”Primark sell them too!” a fellow fashion lover revealed.
