Coronation Street fans convinced soap icon is returning after Roy Cropper is rushed to hospital
COULD a lost soap icon be making a huge return to the cobbles? Coronation Street fans seem to think so.
In upcoming scenes on Coronation Street, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) will be rushed to hospital.

As such, he then starts to do extra shifts at the cafe to make sure his business does not suffer from being short-staffed.
However, he ends up being confronted by a gang of rowdy thugs who shout nasty names.
He stumbles to the floor, only to be found by Carla Connor (Alison King) who rushes to his aid.
As an ambulance drives up to the cafe, Shona tells her colleague – and Roy’s niece – Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) what happened.
They rush into their workplace to find paramedics giving CPR to Roy, before transferring him to the nearest medical facility.
At his bedside, a mystery visitor appears as he drifts in and out of consciousness.
The guest stays by his side before quickly disappearing and moving away from the room.
When he finally wakes up, Roy details the encounter to a worried Nina, who wonders if what he saw was a hallucination.
Some fans of the long-running ITV soap think that he could be set to see the ghost of his beloved late wife, Hayley.
Actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, 54, starred as the eccentric character for 16 years after she first joined the soap in 1998.
It has been 10 years since she last appeared on-screen in heartbreaking scenes, after Hayley was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Hayley died in Roy’s arms after taking her own life with a lethal cocktail of drugs, not wishing to prolong her illness.
However, fans think she could make a huge return by appearing at Roy’s bedside as a mirage or ghost in his imagination.
Coronation Street's shock exits 2024
Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:
Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.
The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.
Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.
After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.
Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.
Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.
Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.
The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.
Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.
Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.
It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.
Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.
She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.
Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – one fan wrote: “Getting a Roy/Hayley scene would be beautiful.”
Another commented: “I get the feeling that he may have seen a premonition of Hayley.”
As a third stated: “Strong indication that Hayley’s back next week?”
On Reddit, another social media site, a fourth fan posted: “I hope it’s Hayley. I’d love to see her back even for a minute.”

And a fifth fan echoed: “I thought so too at first, but then I thought if they want to bring her back in a vision, maybe they should save her for a more impactful moment than Roy’s 15th visit to the hospital this year?”
The character’s presence was felt by fans on the soap in recent scenes.
In a heartbreaking throwback moment, Roy held a picture of his wedding as he was being threatened at knifepoint in prison.
Roy had been wrongly accused of murdering missing teen, Lauren Bolton, but was finally released after Nathan Curtis was framed and charged with the crime instead.
