Firefighters respond to Kansas River fire in north Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Fire crews responded to calls of smoke and flames coming from the tree line along the Kansas River in the north Topeka area on Wednesday.

A 27 News reporter confirms fire crews were near the west end of the Sardou Bridge leading into the Oakland neighborhood as smoke rises from a group of nearby trees. City of Topeka spokeswoman Rosie Nichols said firefighters with the Topeka Fire Department responded to this call.

Nichols said fire crews were called to the area around 11:30 a.m. with one engine company and one brush company being sent to investigate. No injuries are being reported in connection to this fire.
