Scotia coffee shop opening new location in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Storied Coffee & Milk Teas is making its return to Schenectady. The coffee shop is opening up a second location at 123 Jay Street in the former Saratoga Coffee Traders space.
Storied Coffee previously had a location inside b.inspired home at 1671 Union Street in Schenectady before they closed in July 2022. The home goods shop b.inspired home also relocated to Niskayuna in early 2024.
Co-owner Christine Sarnacki said the new Schenectady store will have the same menu as in Scotia and will start with the same food menu with the hopes of expanding based on demand. Storied Coffee serves coffee drinks, boba milk teas, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and baked goods by Ppang Bakery, which is located inside Storied's Scotia shop.
"We expect this location to busier than our Scotia one given the downtown location and increased foot traffic," said Sarnacki. "We're making plans now to make our operating systems efficient so we can provide excellent service and the high quality people know us for."
In addition, Storied Coffee sells used books. Sarnacki said they started selling books from the Scotia shop in July 2022 and are now inundated with them. They'll be bringing over books to the Schenectady location.
Sarnacki said they have meetings on July 9 with the Schenectady Mayor and other department heads. If they pass inspections on that day, they'll have a soft opening of the new shop soon after.
