Weather Alert Day: Heat advisory and severe weather risk today

FORECAST DISCUSSION:

It is a weather alert day for central Ohio as we are tracking both high heat and humidity along with the chance for strong to severe storms this evening. Temperatures this afternoon will top off in the low 90s with a heat index making it feel closer to 100. A heat advisory is in effect until 8 pm.

The warm and muggy condition will come ahead of a cold front that we are tracking. The central Ohio will see a slight risk for severe weather with heavy rains, gusty winds, and some lighting. The best chance for these storms arrival will be between 5-9 pm, but additional rain chances will stick around though midnight.

Overnight we are tracking additional chances for rain. Conditions will also stay muggy with above average overnight lows for this time of year. Temperatures will fall to the mid 70s.

Independence Day will bring additional chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. We will notice cooler temperatures which will at least helps things a little bit. Highs will reach the mid 80s, which is close to seasonable for this time of year.

Additional rain and storm chances arrive this Friday. Skies will begin to clear out by the weekend. Temperatures will stay at or below normal, and eventually low humidity will also settle in.
