If there’s one thing Taylor Swift loves, it’s celebrating America’s birthday with several dozen famous women at her controversial Rhode Island beach house. In 2016, she did it with Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne; last year, she included all three Haim sisters and Selena Gomez. But as if America wasn’t in bad enough shape already, this year we are being cruelly denied a July 4 Watch Hill gal hang.
It’s true: Swift’s newly revamped battalion of female celebrities will not be gathering to get day drunk and pose for Instagram photo dumps. That’s because the singer will be overseas on Independence Day, performing in Amsterdam during the European leg of her never-ending international Eras Tour. What will she do after her show? Perhaps abscond to an American-themed bar to tell the local Dutchmen how she has proudly endorsed “the people who most represent YOU”? Maybe she will be joined by Travis Kelce, a guy who looks and acts like he absolutely lives for July 4. I bet there’s a set of red, white, and blue co-ords he’s just itching to take for a spin.
