'That's inappropriate': Reporter scolded by colleague after asking if Biden was awake

A White House correspondent found himself being scolded by the head of the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) after he shouted a question about President Joe Biden.

During Tuesday's White House briefing, WCHA president Kelly O'Donnell, an NBC correspondent, questioned Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre on concerns about Biden after his poor debate performance.

"Does the president have a duty to review data, like polling information that's coming in, donor information, the fears and concerns or anxieties expressed by Democrats?" O'Donnell asked. "You're saying that he's absolutely running."

"Well, he's saying that, and I'm sharing with you his view," Jean-Pierre replied.

"And we would invite the president to come here and tell us that directly," O'Donnell said.

"Is he awake?" a reporter shouted.

"That's inappropriate," O'Donnell insisted, shutting down the reporter.

"As you heard from your colleague, the president of the WHCA, that's inappropriate," Jean-Pierre emphasized.
