Redditor Puppiesnprada shared the beauty tip in a post.

Instead of a traditional store-bought product, she explained that her mom turned to nature for her skin needs.

“My mom always rubbed citrus fruit peels on her skin and had me doing so since I was a teen,” she said.

As she grew older, she realized why her mom had adopted the practice.

“I realize it was an old-school way of getting topical vitamin C!” she said.

“Apparently it’s been an East Asian beauty practice for centuries.”

Others who were in the know about the method indulged more information on it.

One commenter explained that the trick is to utilize the outer side of orange peels directly on the skin.

“I roll it into a cylinder to release the oils before rubbing,” they said.

Others shared tips and tricks they picked up from their mothers and grandmothers.

One beauty fan emphasized the importance of bringing your facial skincare products downwards.

“Always remember to moisturize your neck too!” they said.

One Redditor, unaware of the advice, explained that she’d been trying to reverse her mistake.

“I learned that the hard way when I turned 35 and have been trying to take care of it since,” she said.

Should you apply vitamin C to your skin?

Topical Vitamin C has several benefits for skin including hydrating, reducing redness, and hyperpigmentation.

According to Healthline, it may also help to promote collagen production and reduce the appearance of sun damage.

Research shows that it is safe for most skin types but may cause irritation in concentrations above 20%.

Experts recommend doing a patch test on a small skin area and waiting 24 hours to see if there are side effects before applying it to your face.

Discontinue topical use of vitamin C if you experience rashes, redness, or hives.

One woman shared wisdom that her female role models swore by.

“Don’t leave the house without earrings and a little lipstick on,” she said.

“Keep your toes pedicures, and don’t go out in public with chipped nail polish,” she added.

“A hard life ages you! Don’t let men (and people in general) stress you out!”

Many couldn’t help but agree with her main takeaways.

“The last line especially is pure wisdom,” said one commenter.
