Police: Man's body recovered from Colorado River in Bastrop

A man's body was recovered after he drowned in Bastrop Wednesday, according to the Bastrop Police Department.

BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) -- A man's body was recovered in the Colorado River in Bastrop after he reportedly didn't resurface from the water Wednesday, according to the Bastrop Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. following reports of a man struggling in the water who did not resurface.

The man was recovered from the river in an area just south of State Highway 71 near Water Street.

The Lower Colorado River Authority and other first responders also responded to help with search and rescue efforts, according to the Bastrop Police Department.

Police said in an update that a deceased man was later recovered.
