‘Give me one now’ cry Home Bargains shoppers as popular Asian drink branded ‘amazing’ is spotted on the shelves
HOME Bargains shoppers have been raving over a popular Asian drink after spotting it on the supermarket shelves.
The Taiwanese drink has taken the world by storm since it was first released in the mid-80s.
The beloved bubble tea has been popping around the UK, but could set you back at least £5 for one drink.
However, Home Bargains has brought the Asian beverage to your local store and they are scanning for only £1.95.
The fan-favourite drink comes in a range of flavours, including passion fruit, raspberry and peach.
The tea-based drink first made its way from Taiwan across the world to the US in the 1990s with the arrival of Taiwanese immigrants.
It then spread to other parts of the globe where East Asian communities have had a prominent presence.
Bubble tea is a cold drink made with tea, sweetened milk or other flavourings, and contains balls or “pearls” of tapioca – a starchy substance in the form of hard grains.
But other varieties also include fruit teas and popping boba – spherical balls filled with bursting sweet juice.
Shoppers have been thrilled to find the bargain offer on the shelves of the discount retailer.
One person said: “I’ve had these before and they are amazing!”

What is bubble tea?
BUBBLE tea is a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in Tainan and Taichung in the 1980s.
It is made up of some kind of tea, milk and sugar as well as chewy tapioca balls (also known as pearls or boba).
The oldest known bubble tea consisted of a mixture of hot Taiwanese black tea, small tapioca pearls, condensed milk, and syrup.
The beverage shot to prominence across south east Asia during the 1990s and has also spread to the west.
It is widely available in areas with a large Chinese or Taiwanese population including in the UK in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
There are a variety of different bubble tea chains selling the drink in the UK, including Bubbleology, Mooboo and Boba Box.
Another person said: “My daughter stocked her fridge with these.”

It comes as confectionery fans have been left delighted after spotting a popular discontinued chocolate bar at Home Bargains.
