WESLEY STUDENTS WIN 2024 STOCKHOLM JUNIOR WATER PRIZE
The Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike has commended the efforts of the students of Wesley Girls Senior Secondary School who recently won the 2024 Stockholm Junior Water Prize at the National Final held at the Embassy of Sweden in Abuja.
Mr. Osinaike applauded the students’ efforts, emphasising that hard work leads to more opportunities. He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and shared words of wisdom to guide them towards success in the upcoming International Final in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments and confidence in their ability to excel internationally. He acknowledged the dedication and support of the school’s administration, teachers, and the entire Education District IV community in nurturing these young talents.
Commending the students, Ariori Balikis and Abdulsalam Khadijat, along with their teacher, Oyewale Wasiu Abioye, and Principal, Mrs. Bankole, the Tutor-General averred that the remarkable achievement showcases the excellence of Education District IV and highlights the potential of Lagos State’s youth in driving innovation and sustainable development.
Their innovative project, “FLOODWISE”, is an automated flood management system designed to mitigate flooding and efficiently repurpose water.
FLOODWISE integrates a flood indicator, a biofiltration setup, and an eco-roof, working together to convert floodwater and rainwater into usable water for non-potable purposes. By combining real-time flood monitoring with sustainable water treatment and storage solutions, FLOODWISE aims to enhance urban water resilience and promote eco-friendly water usage practices.
As the students prepare for the International Final, the District and State stand united in their support and belief in their continued success.
