25 Years of Kargil War: During the Kargil war in 1999, Colonel Balwan Singh, then a young Lieutenant, led the Indian Army's Ghatak Platoon in the successful assault on Tiger Hill, a crucial victory against Pakistani intruders. Despite being injured, Singh continued to fight, embodying courage and determination. The 18 Grenadiers, known as the Pole Star Battalion, played a pivotal role in this conflict, earning 52 honors including a Param Vir Chakra and two Maha Vir Chakras. Their victories at Tololing and Tiger Hill became symbols of bravery, inspiring the nation during the war.
