Following Nish’s terminal diagnosis due to a heart condition, actor Navin Chowdhry, behind the character, has hinted Nish isn’t done just yet.

Viewers recently learned the ex-husband of Suki Panesar is battling myocarditis, caused by a virus he caught and leaving him needing a heart transplant.

But while EastEnders fans question whether this is all a sinister plan by Nish, Navin has said the baddie has “nothing to lose”.

Speaking to RadioTimes, he said: “It’s up to the viewers what they choose to believe, but if illness is going to consume Nish, then he’s not going to go quietly.

“Look at what he did when he was of good health he behaved so recklessly and had no moral compass.

“There were no limits beforehand, imagine if he knew people are betraying him behind the scenes he’s got nothing to lose and could be more dangerous than he’s ever been.”

Navin, 53, also revealed playing such a twisted character has real-life consequences for him, leaving him ‘afraid’.

He explained to the Daily Star: “There have been moments when we’ve had scenes and I’ll speak to the producer and I’ll say, ‘I’m going to have to go on the school run and you’re making me beat up every woman on Albert Square’.

“I’ve been scared.”

Navin has become one of EastEnders’ best-loved villains, following in the footsteps of Archie Mitchell, Dirty Den and Nick Cotton.

He previously explained to The Sun that playing the evil mastermind has come very easy to him.

“It scary how easily it comes to me. It’s what these lot bring out in me,” Navin said as it gestured to co-stars Aaron Thiara and Sophie Khan Levy.

“If it wasn’t for these lot I would be nice as pie.”
