TikTok star who volunteered to join Jay Slater search in Tenerife quits as he’s ‘never had any money’ from GoFundMe

A TIKTOK star has quit his search for missing Jay Slater as he said he’s ‘never had any money’ from GoFundMe.

Callum Fahim, who voluntarily travelled to Tenerife to help cops, claimed he has left after being slammed with death threats and seeing no cash.

He flew over after contacting the 19-year-old’s mum, Debbie, online, as reported by Sky News.

But now the social media personality plans to return to the UK on Thursday.

A GoFundMe donation page created by Jay’s friend Lucy has so far raised more than £48,000 for Jay’s family to continue their search.

In a statement on the site, his mother shared an update on how the funds would be used.

She said: “Your generosity has been vast, and we are so grateful for all of your support and kindness during this unimaginable time for our family.

“We will continue to use part of the funds to support the volunteers working hard in the mountains to find Jay.

“We are currently looking after Paul Arnett, putting together a package of any equipment and essentials he needs and going up to do a drop for him.

“We are also supporting Callum Fahim and his group with accommodation and other essentials.

“The remaining funds will continue to be used to support the rescue teams who are tirelessly searching for Jay as well as our own expenses as we remain in Tenerife looking for our boy.”

But, TikToker Callum told Sky News he has not received any of the money.

Meanwhile, in a message penned on Facebook, the search volunteer wrote: “I can confirm that none of my “essentials” and none of my group’s “essentials” have been paid.

“However, she did contribute towards a hotel and flight.”

It comes after Jay’s heartbroken family vowed to remain in Tenerife after police called off the land search.

The hunt was ended after 14 days of looking for the 19-year-old.
