My kids tested supermarkets’ dupe England shirts… £10 top looked like pyjamas and shrank in the wash

YOUNG England fans will be keen to show their support when we  take on Switzerland tomorrow  by wearing an England T-shirt.

The official kit is pricey, but supermarkets and other stores have  options that don’t break the bank. Here, Lynsey Hope and her three children aged four to nine share their verdicts.

Lidl two-piece set

£4.99 in store, 2-12yrs[/caption]

IF you’re on a shoestring, head to Lidl where you can grab this kit for less than £5. The material looks like it snags easily and Olive, seven, said it was a bit itchy. But it didn’t shrink in the wash, and mud and grass stains came off easily.

Primark T-shirt

£7-£9 in store, 18 months-15yrs[/caption]

AVAILABLE in both red and white, these were amazing quality and felt like the real deal. Grass stains came out even on a 40-degree wash.

No mention of Euro 2024 so they can be worn for future tournaments. Ivy, four, really liked the red.

Asda graffiti shirt

From £3.75, 3-14yrs[/caption]

BOTH Olive and Jacob, nine, really loved this. The design meant marks did not show up easily, which is handy given Jacob loved playing football in his.

Felt soft for the price, of decent quality and washed well with no fade or shrinking.

M&S Spencer Bear Cotton T-Shirt

Oliver Dixon
From £8, 2-7yrs[/caption]

A SUPER-CUTE design featuring the store’s character.

I expected it to go down a storm with the girls, but all the kids preferred the more traditional footie shirts.

It is good quality and didn’t shrink or fade, even after a few washes.

Punk It’s Coming Home T-shirt

Oliver Dixon
£9.99, 5-13yrs[/caption]

A UNIQUE design, I loved how the lettering was coloured like the St George flag.

It has a more grown-up design, which appealed to Jacob. But this wasn’t as soft as the others and the colour looked a little faded after a few washes.

Sainsbury’s Euros T-shirt

Oliver Dixon
From £6, 1-14yrs[/caption]

THIS red T-shirt was Jacob’s favourite.

The red is more practical than the white options if kids are going to be playing outside in it.

It was soft and cosy, and washed perfectly. I’d definitely buy this again. Decent value, too.

Asda Official Three Lions T-shirt

Oliver Dixon
£6, 3-14yrs[/caption]

THIS bears the official England crest but is otherwise plain.

A good option for a child who doesn’t like the sporty T-shirt fabric and wants something a little smarter.

I had to put it on a hotter wash to get rid of some ketchup stains.

Tesco T-shirt and shorts

£10, 5-12yrs[/caption]

NOT my favourite. Very cosy and soft, but these looked more like pyjamas than a football kit.

Quite good value for a tenner  but I preferred the other designs. I think they shrank a little in the wash too, so I wasn’t impressed by the quality.
