‘No way that’s why’ say Love Island fans as Maya Jama breaks down in tears in most emotional recoupling moment ever

LOVE Island viewers were stunned tonight as Maya Jama broke down in tears – but it wasn’t for the reason they thought.

They’d seen her get emotional in the programme trailer and were convinced it was over Ayo and Mimii’s recoupling result.

But it was in fact due to Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies’ sweet reunion.

In surprise scenes, host Maya proved just how invested she is in the series as she wiped tears from her immaculately made up face.

It came in one of the all-time sweet Casa recoupling moments as Welsh lovebirds Ciaran and Nicole reunited after days apart.

The outcome was never in doubt where Ciaran was concerned as he continually pined for his girl.

However, insecure Nicole was frantically worried the whole time, particularly after learning Ciaran had kissed bombshell Emma in the other villa.

She needn’t have worried though as Ciaran told Maya: “I’ve enjoyed the time with the boys and the girls, I’ve created good friendships with all of them, but three of four days [apart from Nicole] was too long.”

“I’ve decided to stick with Nicole.”

He then branded their connection “true love”, before Nicole arrived in floods of tears.

Maya then wiped away her own tears, saying: “You’ve set me right off.”

Delighted Nicole said: “I missed him so much and I’m glad to be back now.”

They sealed their reunion with a cuddle and kiss.

Viewers were expecting more though, with one complaining on X: “I’m vex because was that really why Maya was in tears?????.”

Another said: “Maya save your tears for something more useful.”

A third said: “Not this being why maya shed tears.”

A fourth fumed: “So all day everyone has been saying Maya cried but it was cause of Nicole and her shameless tears? ffs.”

Last night the Islanders were told that they had to finally make a decision on who they wanted to be with after the sister villa twist was introduced on Sunday evening.

Maya could be seen strutting into the villa in her sexiest outfit ever ahead of the mass dumping.

A TV source told MailOnline of her tears: “Maya feels connected to the Islanders…

“She struggled to hide her emotion during filming of the Casa Amor re-coupling.

“It was tough for her to see the reaction from some of the girls, who were shocked to discover the level of betrayal demonstrated by their partner.

“Some of the couples had been together for a significant number of weeks so it was particularly painful for those to reunite under different circumstances.

“It was one of the most dramatic Love Island episodes ever filmed, so much so, bosses had to extend the show.”

Maya stunned fans in a very daring red latex dress.

It was the perfect fiery frock for the mass cull as single Islanders were sent packing.

A source told us ahead of the episode: “The recoupling will shock everyone and no one is safe.

“Reuniting the two villas was explosive – there was a lot of drama and heads will roll.

“The tension was unbearable and viewers will be left gobsmacked as to who choses who.

“The infamous Casa recoupling will cause chaos and has completely shaken up the villa and the relationships.”

“A number of Islanders have already been dumped from the villa and are on their way home.”
