What is eyebrow blindness?

Eyebrow blindness refers to a time when people have fallen victim to shaping their brows based on current trends.

This includes the ’90s and early ’00s when celebrities and fans who idolised these trendsetters would pluck their brows really thin.

Around the 2010s, people started to ditch their thin brows for extremely thick, over-contoured ones.

Regardless of the size of a person’s brows, we were blind to whether these trends personally looked good to our faces.

As eyebrow trends continue to evolve, tiny eyebrows have stopped many from going along with incoming trends because they’re now unable to regrow their brows.

Nonetheless, people are now reflecting on their own beauty choices that were once viral trends.

When did eyebrow blindness go viral?

Eyebrow blindness went viral in June 2024 after TikTok users started sharing their own personal experiences around the term.

Since it has gone viral, eyebrow blindness has accumulated over 160 million views and comments on the social media app.

Others are even wondering if they currently have eyebrow blindness.

However, eyebrow aficionado Damone Roberts told The U.S. Sun that we shouldn’t be following trends when it comes to our eyebrows, but finding what looks best to our face shape individually.

“Social media is now driving trends,” said Damone.

“People are just not catching up to the fact that one must not follow fashion trends with brow styling.

“The secret is finding the correct shape for you individually to bring out your best.

“People have quickly jumped on any trend and regretted it several months later.”

He went on to say that moving forward if we don’t know how to shape our brows, we should let the professionals take over.

“To fix mistakes, go to a professional. Make sure that you have seen their work.

“The best brow for a Sarah may not be the best for a Brittany.”

What celebrities have talked about eyebrow blindness?

As the ’90s and early ’00s were notorious for the thin-brow era, many celebrities led the trend and have since talked about their own eyebrow blindness.

Former over-plucker and renowned actress Olivia Wilde once spoke about her eyebrows, saying: “I do not tweeze my eyebrows,” as per Us Weekly.

“I’ve been letting them grow out for years. I try to fill them in whenever nature has abandoned me.”

Demi Lovato also adhered to the thin eyebrow trend during her Disney days.

Now, she has thick brows and attributes her hair growth success to Latisse, which is known to make eyelashes grow.

As per Pop Crush, Demi said: “It’s a miracle. It’s a product that helps your lashes grow really long.

“I was like, ‘Oh, this will be a good idea to make my eyebrows fill in.’

“And so I used Latisse on my brows, and they, like, took over my role as a judge on the X Factor.

“I mean, they had an opinion of their own.”

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she recommended a “naturally anti-inflammatory diet” rich in antioxidants for regrowing brows.

  • Orange and yellow foods for beta-carotene
  • Pumpkin seeds for zinc and amino acids
  • Bananas and mushrooms for biotin
  • Cucumber or Horsetail and nettle herbs for silica
  • Dark berries, raw cacao, and green tea for polyphenols
