Love Island in fresh fix row as fans accuse show couple of getting ‘winners edit’
LOVE Island fans think bosses are desperate for Ciaran and Nicole to win the show after a huge clue during their recoupling last night.
Host Maya Jama was moved to tears and her reaction wasn’t the only element that caused debate.
Host Maya reunited with her longterm boyfriend Stormzy last year – and editors played his song Blinded By Your Grace over the top as she wiped away tears.
It prompted a huge reaction on social media with fans insisting the show is secretly gunning for them to win.
One viewer said on X, formerly Twitter: “They played Stormzy’s song when Ciaran and Nicole reunited…”
Another penned: “Playing a Stormzy song during Ciaran and Nicole’s reunion, editors knew what they were doing!!”
And a third said: “Not them playing stormzy for Nicole and Ciaran help me. The producers are not slick at all and here Maya crying! You know just crown them already!”
Another agreed, writing: “Can’t lie?? Putting stormzy’s song over Maya crying is so delicious you go producers.”
One more echoed: “Okay why they playing stormzy on love island?? Maya I know you’re behind this…”
Another insisted: “Maya got Stormzy got that love island deal…. the song has nothing to do with this moment!”
It was one of the all-time sweet Casa recoupling moments – but the outcome was never in doubt as Ciaran continually pined for his girl.
However, insecure Nicole was frantically worried the whole time, particularly after learning Ciaran had kissed bombshell Emma in the other villa.
She needn’t have worried though as Ciaran told Maya: “I’ve enjoyed the time with the boys and the girls, I’ve created good friendships with all of them, but three of four days [apart from Nicole] was too long.”
“I’ve decided to stick with Nicole.”
He then branded their connection “true love”, before Nicole arrived in floods of tears.
Maya wiped away her own tears, saying: “You’ve set me right off.”
Delighted Nicole said: “I missed him so much and I’m glad to be back now.”
They sealed their reunion with a cuddle and kiss as Blinded By Your Grace, a track by Maya’s boyfriend Stormy, played over the top.
Viewers were expecting more though, with one complaining on X: “I’m vex because was that really why Maya was in tears?????.”
Another said: “Maya save your tears for something more useful.”
A third said: “Not this being why maya shed tears.”
A fourth fumed: “So all day everyone has been saying Maya cried but it was cause of Nicole and her shameless tears? ffs.”
