Mobiles and drugs found in prison raid

Five mobile phones and drugs were found during a raid at the Nicosia central prisons on Friday.

Spokesman for the force Christos Andreou told CNA two wings were searched, with specific cells targeted.

“Five mobile phones were found which were confiscated, as well as a small quantity of drugs which was also seized.”

Similar search operations have happened in the past and more will come, he added.

Asked to comment on the prison officer’s vehicle which was bombed, Andreou said investigations are ongoing both to identify the motive and those involved.
