Cavs announce Summer League roster

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Craig Porter Jr. will headline the group led by Jordan Ott.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to defend their Las Vegas Summer League title from last season later this month. Jordan Ott, who was just recently named to the coaching staff, will lead the squad.

Jaylon Tyson, Craig Porter Jr., Emoni Bates, and Luke Travers will headline the group. DJ Burns, who was signed to the Summer League team shortly after the conclusion of the second round of the NBA Draft will also be with Cleveland. The full roster can be seen below.

Isaiah Mobley is the notable name not on this list. The Cavs did not extend a qualifying offer to the elder Mobley, making him a free agent. Mobley is eligible to be on a two-way deal for one more season. Sharife Cooper, who spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Charge and was on last season’s Summer League team, isn’t on the roster as well. Khalifa Diop, who was selected 39th in the 2022 draft, isn’t on the roster due to an injury.

Members of the Charge from last season are well-represented. This includes 6’5” wing Dexter Dennis who joined the Charge late last season after spending time on a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks earlier that season. He will be accompanied by Zhaire Smith, Gabe Osabuohien, and Pete Nance who was on a two-way deal last season.

The Cavs are scheduled to play four games but will play at least five depending on the results of those games.
