Nanaimo, B.C. (July 5, 2024) — Nanaimo Clippers forward Emmett McHardy has committed to attend and play for Vermont State University Castleton, beginning in the 2024-25 NCAA season, the team announced today.

Located in Castleton, Vermont, the Spartans compete in the NCAA’s Division III New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).

McHardy, 21, joined the Clippers in a pre-season trade with the Coquitlam Express for his final year of junior hockey eligibility, scoring 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in 54 regular season games.

“Emmett is a high character player who was a swiss army knife for our team last season,” said Clippers head coach and general manager Colin Birkas. “His work on the penalty kill and his all-around game were a great example for our younger players.”

The 6’1″, 171lb winger dressed in 144 total games in the BCHL with Coquitlam and Nanaimo, scoring 40 points (19 goals, 21 assists).

The entire Clipper organization would like to wish Emmett the best of luck in his athletic and academic future.
