WWII-era Japanese bomb safely detonated in Jhargram, prompts evacuations
On June 29, workers conducting routine digging in Bhulanpur village, Jhargram, unearthed a large cylindrical object suspected to be a Japanese bomb from World War II. The discovery drew immediate attention, leading to a coordinated response involving local police and a specialized Air Force unit. Precautions included deploying a substantial police force, using 5,000 sandbags for containment, and employing heavy machinery like a JCB and a Domestic Fire Tender (DFT) for excavation.
