Little-known European waterpark reopens ‘tropical island’ beach for summer following huge renovation

A HUGE waterpark in Europe you probably haven’t heard of has reopened its outdoor beach in time for summer.

Temperatures in Europe have risen in recent weeks, sending people everywhere in search of a great spot to go swimming outside.

One place the people of Milan can now head is Tiki Bay at the Acquaworld waterpark, which has reopened its outdoor beach area, following a massive renovation.

Last month, the beach was relaunched after being closed for refurbishments.

The artificial tropical beach can be found at the park in Lombardy which sits on the outskirts of the city.

Italian publication Repubblica claims that it promises “guests a true tropical island setting” in among the rest of the waterpark.

They describe it as “an oasis of peace and fun just a few minutes from Milan, the ideal destination to escape for a few hours from the heat of the city and indulge in pure fun”.

The beach has its own fine white sand and towering palm trees providing shade from the warm summer sun, all centred around a huge outdoor pool.

There are also plenty of sun loungers for guests to lay back and relax after making the most of the slides on offer in the rest of the park.

Additionally, the beach has its own cabanas with hammocks and four-poster Balinese beds for an even more relaxing break from the rest of the park.

However, for anyone wanting to splash around, there are plenty of options in the Tiki Bay area of the park.

Kaora has four slides of its own, two of which are ridden on rafts, while the Maki Maki Tower has six colourful slides for children.

Younger tots are also catered for in the Tiki Bay, with a Spray Park offering them a small water playground to run around in.

Anyone who’s worked up an appetite, or just those who fancy a drink, won’t have to go far either, with the Tiki Beach Bar, the largest food court in the entire park, on site.

It’s described as “a huge wooden and straw beach bar to enjoy the shade while sitting comfortably and tasting all the delicacies on offer”.

Those delicacies include fresh salads, cold dishes, sandwiches, ice creams and larger meals.

Repubblica added: “Tiki Bay is the ideal place for kids and families and confirms Acquaworld as a Park attentive to everyone’s needs; kids, adults and children.

“The reopening of the Tiki Bay beach marks the beginning of the summer which will see a rich artistic program with events and evening shows, to offer a truly spectacular season.”

The beach is far from the only pool in the park however, with an indoor wave pool, an outdoor family pool and an outdoor relaxation pool also on offer.

The relaxation pool is part of the park’s adults only spa, which offers parents the chance to relax while their kids spend the day tiring themselves out going down slides over and over again.

It has saunas, jacuzzis and other treatments available to help guests unwind and relax.

Meanwhile, there are also several “adrenaline pumping” slides for people to go down, such as the Blue Speed, which promises an “explosion of speed” surrounded by “intense blue colour”.

The park has an overall score of 4.1/5 from thousands of reviews on Google Ratings.

Other slides include the Turbo Slide, Black Mamba and Starlight which guests are invited to “be transported into a spatial dimension, between strobe lights and pure fun”.

One reviewer wrote: “Amazing place. Lots of slides, great for both small kids and older. And best part is that there is a genuine adult department ‘spa’ with great spaces incl steam bath, sauna and hot tub.”

Another added: “Fun spot for families with children. Very Safe and comfortable. I went with my niece and the fun is guaranteed.”

Meanwhile, this is what it’s like inside the biggest waterparks in the UK.

And these seven UK holiday parks all have their own waterparks.
