Jeremy Clarkson issues major Diddly Squat update to fans after tragic deaths earlier this year
CLARKSON’S Farm fans had a reason to celebrate today after a heartwarming update from Diddly Squat.
Viewers of the Prime Video show will know that the Oxfordshire farm was hit with tragedy last year when dozens of their piglets died shortly after being born.
After being rolled over by their mother while she was asleep, Clarkson and his long-time partner Lisa Hogan were left in tears as they gathered up the babies after their deaths.
The scenes were shown in April as Clarkson’s arm aired, leaving fans just as heartbroken by the devastating scenes.
Now, Lisa and the Diddly Squat Farm’s official Instagram account has some much brighter news to share – a brand new army of piglets who are happy and healthy with their mother.
“Piglet alert! Many piglets, from our first gilt born on the farm (now that she’s produced a litter, she’s called a sow),” Lisa explained.
“Births were fast and easy & we are extremely proud grand pigletarents.”
Fans had their hearts warmed by the incredible news, sharing their love in the comments.
“So glad all went well after the sadness of previous births. You’re going in the right direction,” wrote one.
“Congratulations Proud Grand Piglet Parents!!!” said another.
A third called it “cuteness overload” while a fourth wrote: “Ahhh this has made my day xx”
The piglets come after last year, nearly two dozen piglets were killed by their mother shortly after being born, while others died from natural causes.
It prompted Clarkson to get creative and invented a protective ring in the pig pens that the piglets could hide under and remain safe.
Speaking ahead of the show’s launch, Clarkson said of the time: “I’ve always liked pigs. My mother used to buy me toy pigs every Christmas and birthday into my twenties, and I thought it would be fun to have them — then they all just died in alarming numbers.
“It was absolutely horrific at the time, and we had another calamity with them just the other day, but by and large they’re now going OK.
“We’re getting more robust now, though, we’re a bit stronger at dealing with it.”
Now it seems like their pig-rearing dreams are finally seeing a positive outcome.
