Dangerous heat enters day 3 for Portland area

Excessive heat continues to push Portland area temperatures into the triple-digit zone on Saturday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Excessive heat continues to push Portland area temperatures into the triple-digit zone on Saturday.

Afternoon highs will likely be record-breaking as temperatures warm close to 103. Saturday through Tuesday will likely bring the hottest temperatures to the region this week. Multiple days above 100 degrees will start to feel like the norm by the middle of next week.

Dangerous heat will continue to pose a threat to individuals who can't keep cool. High heat will put a strain on the Pacific Northwest's power grid. Reducing energy consumption while also taking breaks indoors is a must over the next week.

The fire threat remains high through the weekend. That's due to hot and dry conditions while relative humidity values fall. Wildfires can easily start in spread in these conditions.
