Celtics Sign Baylor Scheierman, Expected To Play Summer League
The Celtics on Saturday locked up their first-round pick to a contract.
Boston announced in a press release it signed Baylor Scheierman. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The Creighton product was selected 30th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, which means he could sign a rookie scale deal valued at $2,078,600, per RealGM — first-round picks can sign for as much as 120% or as little as 80% of the rookie scale.
The press release added the 23-year-old is expected to make his Celtics debut at the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas. Photos and video of the rookie signing his contract with president of basketball operations Brad Stevens also was posted on social media.
Boston also announced Saturday it signed Jayson Tatum to a supermax contract extension, and based on a photo on the Scheierman post, the rookie and Tatum signed their contracts on the same day.
The Celtics have not formally announced their roster for the 2024 NBA 2K25 Summer League as of Saturday afternoon. But it is expected to include familiar names.
Boston’s prospects will kick off their schedule next Saturday against the Miami Heat, and Bronny James also will be part of that schedule, too.
