Mariners Game #91 Preview: 7/6/24, TOR at SEA
Nevermind I’ll find someone like Woo
Emerson Hancock will make his now-traditional monthly start in Bryan Woo’s stead this afternoon. On June 16, he was able to dance around the White Sox lineup, giving up just two runs over seven innings despite only striking out one batter. If this were any other SB Nation site, I might have called the White Sox lineup pitiable in that last sentence, but I root for the Mariners. In any event, he’ll have to climb a steeper mountain today against the Blue Jays while the Mariners face Cuban pitcher Yariel Rodriguez in just his eighth MLB start.
Folks up in Everett will get to enjoy dual Pizza Rehabs from Bryan Woo and Gregory Santos, so Funko Field might be the place to go if you’re looking for baseball today.
Lineups
To make room on the roster for Hancock, the Mariners have re-DFAed Seby Zavala. Particularly considering that he did not appear in a game during this round on the roster, we will not be providing a separate blurb for that. In related news, Mitch Garver is feeling good enough to catch again after an injury scare and will start behind the dish today.
Elsewhere, Ty France gets a rare day off. If this were a just world, it’d be Luke Raley on the bench as punishment for his post-game comments last night in which he said that he liked the back-and-forth atmosphere from the fans during the Canadian Invasion, whereas the correct answer would have been something to the effect of: “This is my house.”
Finally, Jorge Polanco sits for a third day in a row while he continues to work with his personal hitting instructor.
