I didn’t get into football until the late 70’s but I do recall hearing about the hard men in each team.

I think in those days every team had tough guy enforcers on the pitch. Liverpool like Leeds could play nice football but both were tough and could mix it with the best. Souness, Case and Smith, between them would leave something on you.
