Jaron “Boots” Ennis headlines this week’s boxing schedule.

Wednesday, July 10

ProBox TV, 8:00 pm ET, Katsuma Akitsugi vs Jesus Ramirez. That might be the main event, or maybe it’s Nicklaus Flaz vs Alfredo Escarcega. Also Najee Lopez and others in action. It’s ProBox! John will apparently be resuming ProBox activities. BLH will have live updates.

Friday, July 12

ESPN+, 9:00 pm ET, Chocolatito Gonzalez vs Rober Barrera. Not a big fight, but it’s Chocolatito at home in Managua, as he embarks on a potential run at bantamweight, which also will likely be the final stage of his career, as he’s 37 years old. Bantamweight’s no joke or anything, and the biggest upside — and payday — might actually be a fourth fight with Juan Francisco Estrada at 118, or maybe a fight with Nonito Donaire, some quality seniors tour stuff. Barrera has a pretty empty record, but has been in with some quality guys and wasn’t always blown out of the ring or anything, and he has a few solid wins. It’s not hard to find emptier records, I guess is what I’m saying. He’s not a zero.

Saturday, July 13

DAZN, 1:00 pm ET, Kaine Fourie vs Siseko Makeleni. One of 150+ fight nights on DAZN!!!

ESPN+, 6:50 pm ET, Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Andrei Mikhailovich. This one’s an ESPN+ exclusive, no ESPN for a “main card.” Janibek is once again fighting the best guy they could find who will actually fight him. It’s all Top Rank can do, and I do admire their commitment to presenting him as a main eventer. Raymond Muratalla takes on Tevin Farmer on the undercard, which would have seemed more intriguing if we were importing 2019 Tevin Farmer, but Farmer’s a crafty guy, he could be a spoiler. Ruben Villa and others also in action. BLH will have live updates.

DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Jaron “Boots” Ennis vs David Avanesyan. All in all, Boots winds up with a fight about equal to the originally scheduled Cody Crowley in his Matchroom debut. Neither Crowley nor Avanesyan seem on paper to be any real threat to Ennis, who by default and obvious talent stands as the best guy actually fighting at 147 anymore. BLH will have live updates.
