With Edwin Díaz back from his suspension, the Mets won Game 2 of their series against the Pirates, 5-2. Díaz got the save, while José Buttó, Reed Garrett and Dedniel Núñez all came up big. Evan Mazza recapped the win.

The Mets on Saturday called up right-handed pitcher Eric Orze from Tiple-A Syracuse. Orze, the Mets’ fifth-round draft pick in 2020 is a two-time cancer survivor with a truly touching story.  The corresponding roster move was right-handed pitcher Ty Adcock being optioned back down to Triple-A.

Per Major League Baseball, Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda broke the MLB Expansion Era record (since 1961) record for most consecutive at-bats with a base hit at 12. It ties the MLB all-time record last achieved by Walt Drapo in 1952. Those hits were: single-double-single-double-single-double-single-double-home run and three more singles.

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Padres pitcher Yu Darvish will be on the restricted list for an “indefinite period time” while dealing with a personal matter.
