Austin Police arrest suspect in Manor homicide
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department arrested and charged a 24-year-old man with murder for their alleged involvement in a Manor homicide back in May.
Police documents identified Matthew Noe Orozco, 24, as a suspect in a shooting that happened around 2:20 a.m. May 17 at the Alta Blue Goose apartment complex on Blue Goose Road, near East U.S. 290.
APD initially responded to a call regarding a shooting at a restaurant in the 8000 block of E. U.S. Hwy. 290 Service Road. Police later clarified in documents that the shooting had actually happened at the Manor apartment complex.
Police spoke with people inside a red 2020 Chevrolet Spark, who said their backseat passenger — identified as Eliud Cueva, Jr., 32 — was shot in the head.
Police documents said Cueva died on May 18 at 5:36 p.m. After investigating and conducting interviews, APD documents said officials believe people drove Cueva to the Waffle House for help and to call 911.
The victim's phone was recovered from the scene and turned in as evidence. Police documents said the APD Forensics Unit later discovered messages between the victim and a number with an Austin area code showing a drugs purchase. Documents added APD believes Cueva was set up from who he was speaking with.
