French media have reported low voter turnout in the second round of parliamentary elections in France, describing it as unprecedented.

According to Agence France-Presse, the parliamentary elections in France, termed as “sensitive and decisive,” began today at 8:00 AM local time. The news agency has reported that voter turnout in the first four hours of this round of elections has been unprecedented since 1981.

The far-right party “National Rally” secured the most votes in the first round of these elections, and in this round, the left coalition “New Popular Front” and the coalition “Together” led by Emmanuel Macron are striving to prevent National Rally from gaining power.

In the first round of parliamentary elections held last week, the National Rally of France garnered over 33% of the votes. Polls also indicate that the National Rally may become the largest party in the French parliament, although they may not secure a sufficient majority.

This round of French parliamentary elections will determine the fate of over 500 seats. In total, 49.5 million voters have registered to elect 577 members of the National Assembly.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Interior, approximately 27% of eligible voters cast their ballots in the first four hours of the second round of these elections, which is unprecedented in its own right.

Meanwhile, the outcome of these elections will significantly shape France’s political landscape. The unusually low voter turnout underscores the critical decisions facing French voters and the potential impact on the country’s future governance.
