KOIN 6 News reached out to Hillsboro police, but they didn't know what it was, either.

"We are aware of the sound that was heard but have not received any reports regarding its source," Hillsboro PD Officer Jim Ruiz told KOIN 6 News.

Some social media posts suggest it was a meteor, but that has not been confirmed. No other cities or counties around Hillsboro have reported this boom and bright light.

No damage has been reported.

KOIN 6 News will continue to follow this story.
