Carencro man speaks out about being robbed at gunpoint in his own home

A Carencro man, who requested to remain anonymous, claims a person broke into his home on the night of July 4 and robbed him at gunpoint.

CARENCRO, La. (KLFY) -- A Carencro man, who requested to remain anonymous, claims a person broke into his home on the night of July 4 and robbed him at gunpoint.

The man told KLFY that he was asleep in his room, when he suddenly heard a noise coming from the laundry room around 9:30 that night. He said he got out of bed and walked to the laundry room where he saw someone, who at first, he thought was a relative.

"I thought it was my grandmother," the man said. "I walked down the hallway and whenever I got in the laundry room, somebody was in there."

But it turned out to be an intruder who came into the home, he said.

The man said he jumped into action and was able to wrestle him down to the ground, until the man pointed a gun at him.

"I tried to tackle him and then he pulled a firearm out on me, held me at gunpoint," the man said. "Stole two or three pistols and then took my truck keys off the counter and left".

Since the incident, the man says neither his truck nor his guns have been returned. He advises people to remain diligent, as he says home break-ins can happen anywhere.

"You see it on a movie or a tv shows or the news. You say that won't happen to me, and then there it is, it happens to you," the man said.

The Carencro Police Department are investigating the incident, the man said.
