Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will leave Spurs this summer
AS reported last month that Atletico Madrid were keeping an eye on Hojbjerg this summer, even if the Dane isn’t their first-choice target (14/06/24 – via Sport Witness).
Hojbjerg has been linked with a number of big-name teams so far this summer, including Borussia Dortmund (Sport BILD), Inter Milan and AC Milan (TMW), Galatasaray and Fenerbahce (Takvim).
The midfielder’s time at Euro 2024 came to an end last week when Germany knocked them out at the Round of 16 stage with a 2-0 victory, but Hojbjerg was a standout performer during the group stages.
Atletico Madrid are looking at Hojbjerg
Mundo Deportivo claim that Atletico have been looking at many potential midfield signings this summer, but none have come to fruition so far.
The La Liga giants wanted Mats Wieffer before he swapped Feyenoord for Brighton. They admired Atalanta’s Ederson, but the asking price was too high. And now Celtic’s Matt O’Riley also seems out of reach financially.
The report claims that, although there are still other targets in mind, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seems to be the best possibility for Atletico this summer as he will be affordable for the Spanish side.
Spurs Web Opinion:
It seems like plenty of big clubs are keeping an eye on Hojbjerg this summer, so Tottenham shouldn’t struggle to get around £15m for him.
I’m honestly just surprised no one has arrived with an early bid for the Dane, but I suppose the Euros complicated matters.
