Two channels axed from Sky boxes TODAY – but there’s a replacement to fill the void instantly

TWO channels disappear from Sky boxes today in the latest shake-up to TVs across the UK.

And it’s a change that affects sporting fans.

But all is not lost, as there is a recently launched streaming service to take their place.

It comes amid a huge shift among sports channels this month.

MUTV and LFCTV, channels dedicated to Manchester United and Liverpool fans respectively, will be available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream later this week for the first time.

And in August the brand new Sky Sports+ service is unleashed with 100 extra sports channels.

The platform will be home to extra content that is not currently shown on the linear channel, as well as exclusive access to Sky’s sporting documentaries.

It brings a significant increase in live sports coverage to paying customers, which Sky says is 50 per cent more than the standard channel.

The content boost, which will see up to 100 sporting events air at a time, will also be available to Virgin Media and EE TV customers too.

Sky Sports+ will broadcast over 1,000 EFL games per season, thanks to a new partnership between Sky and the English Football League (EFL).

But today’s latest change to the sports viewing landscape marks the end for DAZN 1 HD and DAZN PPV HD.

DAZN 1 HD only landed on Sky in March last year.

Fortunately, there is the newly launched DAZN app on Sky boxes that will allow viewers to fill their boots there instead.

However, those with older boxes may find themselves left out in the cold – in which case you’ll need to upgrade.

The app is available on Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream.

Despite moving away from linear channels to an app, DAZN remains a paid-for extra you will need to subscribe to.

Inside the DAZN app

Where do I find the DAZN app?

It will be sat alongside other apps on your smart TV, such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Prime Video.

How do I watch?

The app is available on Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream devices in the UK and Ireland.

If you have an older Sky set-up, you will need to upgrade to one of Sky’s newer boxes.

How do I sign up?

If you’re not already a subscriber, you can sign up for a DAZN membership inside the app.

Sky channel changes

DAZN’s channel disappearance isn’t the only change to Sky this week.

Some stations are moving too – though this applies to satellite.

That’s Memories will shift from 191 to 365.

Meanwhile, That’s 80s will go form 365 to 366.

Taking it’s place is That’s 90s, which jumps down one from 367 to 366.
