Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Sunday that Kodai Senga will make his second rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Senga will throw between 50 and 60 pitches in the outing. In his first rehab start, Senga threw 35 pitches and struck out six over 2 2/3 hitless innings for High-A Brooklyn.

Sean Manaea threw six shutout innings, and Francisco Lindor came through with a two-out, two-run single against Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning as the Mets won their second straight over the Pirates, 3-2. Edwin Díaz rebounded from a rocky eighth inning to earn a win with a 1-2-3 ninth. With the Padres’ loss, the Mets are two games back of the third NL Wild Card spot.

Christian Scott (0-2, 4.32 ERA) will once again try for his first major league win, facing off against Mitch Keller (9-5, 3.48 ERA) as the Mets look for a series victory. Scott was tagged for four runs in 5 2/3 innings in his return to the majors in Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 p.m.

Pete Alonso was the only Met named to the All-Star Game when reserves were revealed on Sunday, the fourth selection of his career and third in a row. Additionally, Alonso announced he will be participating in his fifth straight Home Run Derby. Alonso won the competition in 2019 and 2021.

The Mets have acquired left-hander Matt Gage from the Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations. Gage has a 4.29 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 21 innings in Triple-A this year. He’s pitched to a 1.83 ERA in 19 2/3 big league innings in his career. To make room for Gage on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred Drew Smith to the 60-day injured list.
