Supreme Court Orders Centre To Frame Menstrual Leave Policy for Women Employees
The Supreme Court on Monday instructed the Centre to develop a model policy on menstrual leave for women employees by consulting with states and other stakeholders. A bench including Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra stated that the matter was a policy issue, not one for the courts to decide. Additionally, the bench noted that a court-mandated decision on this issue could be counterproductive and harmful, as employers might avoid hiring women.
