The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations reports that over 2,000 Afghan migrants have been deported and returned from Iran and Pakistan.

Today, on Monday, 8 July, the ministry stated in a newsletter that a total of 2,649 Afghan migrants entered the country through various border points after being deported.

According to the ministry’s newsletter, those expelled between July 6-7 entered the country through the Islam Qala border in Herat province, Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, and the Torkham border in Nangarhar province.

Border authorities in the mentioned provinces reported that 189 individuals from 39 families returned via Torkham, 261 individuals from 48 families via Spin Boldak, and 33 individuals were released from detention via the Islam Qala border. Additionally, 1,399 individuals returned from Iran via the Nimroz province’s Zaranj border crossing.

Despite international outcry, the deportation of Afghan refugees from Iran and Pakistan continues amid a dire humanitarian crisis.

International organizations have raised concerns about the conditions faced by deported Afghan refugees and the need for humanitarian assistance.

The Afghan government is coordinating efforts to support and reintegrate deported Afghan refugees, focusing on providing essential services and assistance.
